LecturePen

Privacy & storage

Last updated: 25 September 2026.

Who is responsible?

LecturePen is operated by Falcon Creative Ltd, 20A High Street, Chislehurst, London, BR7 5AN, United Kingdom. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@falconcreative.co.uk.

What we process and why

We process account details to sign you in, payment references and credit activity to manage purchases and refunds, and the audio and text you submit to provide transcription and notes. We use these details to fulfil the service you request. We also process limited technical and request records to prevent misuse, investigate errors and protect accounts, based on our legitimate interests in running a reliable service. Payment records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations.

Recordings, notes and local storage

Recording starts on your device. Working drafts and recording recovery use browser storage. They are not automatically backed up to your account. Clearing browser data may remove them. Local copies are not encrypted by LecturePen and should not be treated as a secure vault on a shared device.

When you request a price, your audio is uploaded to our server for a duration check. When you confirm processing, audio and text are sent to OpenAI. When you choose Save a copy, notes and attached audio are stored in your private account library. Edits to an opened or newly saved copy are then sent to our server while the workspace is open. Other customers cannot browse your library through LecturePen.

Service providers

We use Clerk for sign-in, Stripe for payments, OpenAI for AI processing, and our hosting platform and Cloudflare services for delivery and storage. Stripe handles payment-card details; LecturePen stores payment references, not full card numbers. These services may process data outside the UK. Their applicable contractual safeguards and processing information are described in their notices: Clerk, Stripe, OpenAI business data and Cloudflare. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your data.

How long it stays

Browser copies remain until you remove them or your browser clears them. Library copies remain until deleted from your library or removed following a request. Processing results have a 24-hour recovery window; expired results are removed during subsequent processing cleanup. Payment and credit records are kept separately for accounting, refund and dispute handling. Provider security logs and backups may have separate retention periods. Deleting a library copy does not delete copies you have downloaded or your browser recovery files.

Your choices and rights

You can download work and delete library copies yourself. Contact us to request account-data access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be kept for legal obligations or unresolved transactions. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies and responsible recording

We use account cookies and browser storage for sign-in, payment recovery, preferences and draft recovery. Obtain permission and follow the rules of your university, workplace and jurisdiction before recording others. Do not upload confidential material you are not authorised to share, or use LecturePen for highly sensitive material without checking that this service meets your requirements.
